Hair Smoothing & Straightening in Baton Rouge
We offer two smoothing services, and they are not the same. A Japanese permanent straightener makes your hair permanently straight. A Brazilian Blowout removes frizz, leaves the hair silkier and keeps your natural texture.
One changes your hair. The other calms it. Which you want comes down to whether you still want your wave.
Japanese permanent straightener — $500
It restructures the hair so it is genuinely straight, not styled straight. The result is permanent on the hair it treats: it does not wash out, it does not fade, and it does not revert in humidity. The hair is left smoother as well as straighter.
It takes four to five hours. After that, only the new growth needs doing — we typically retouch the root every six months. If you are particular about it looking perfect, every three to four months instead.
Who cannot have a Japanese straightener
If your hair has ever been lightened, you cannot have this service. Not a compromise, not at your own risk — the hair will literally melt off.
This is the one thing we need you to be straight with us about. “A year ago” still counts. Covered up with a darker color still counts. If it was lightened, it is lightened hair, and the chemistry does not care how long ago it happened or what has been put over it since.
We ask every client, and we would rather turn the appointment away than take it. There is no version of this where it works out.
If your hair is lightened and you want it smoother, a Brazilian Blowout is the service for you — it is safe on lightened hair, and it does what most people actually want anyway: it takes the frizz out, leaves the hair silkier and makes it much easier to style every day.
Brazilian Blowout — $400
This is frizz control — and in Louisiana, that is giant. It makes the hair softer and smoother, and it styles far more easily — the difference shows up most on days you can feel the humidity in the air.
It does not straighten your hair. Your texture stays, and you can style it any way you like afterwards — straight, waved, curled, up. It simply behaves.
It lasts about three months with normal wear. If you shampoo infrequently, longer. It fades gradually rather than growing out, so there is no line and no commitment to keeping it up.
We used to do keratin treatments, and we stopped. We did both for years and compared them on real heads of hair. The Brazilian results lasted longer and our clients liked them better, so Brazilian is all we do now.
Which one is you
| Japanese straightener | Brazilian Blowout | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $500 | $400 |
| What it does | Makes the hair straight | Takes the frizz out |
| Keeps texture? | No | Yes |
| Lasts | Permanent; grows out at the root | About 3 months |
| Time | 4–5 hours | Ask at consultation |
| Upkeep | Root retouch, 6 months | None |
| Safe if lightened? | No, never | Yes |
Choose the Japanese straightener if you are done with your texture and want it gone rather than managed — and your hair has never been lightened.
Choose the Brazilian Blowout if you like your hair but not the frizz, if you want to keep styling it different ways, or if your hair has ever been lightened.
Treatments for any hair
| B-3 color additive | $40 |
| Brazil demi treatment | $50 |
| Rewind treatment | $50 |
| Brazilian split-end treatment | $99 |
Brazilian B-3 is what these are built on, and it is good for any hair, colored or not — the demi, the Rewind and the split-end treatment are all made with it. We also add B-3 into color and lightening services, where it protects the hair while it is being worked on and makes the color last longer.
Book a consultation
Both services start with a consultation so your stylist can see and feel your hair, tell you honestly which one suits it — and check the one thing that rules a Japanese straightener out.
