Hair extensions are two separate purchases: the labor to put them in, and the hair itself. At Eutopia the labor for a first hand-tied installation is $699. The hair is bought separately and starts around $500. So a first appointment lands near $1,200 — and the hair is the part you keep.
Most price confusion comes from salons quoting one of those two numbers and not the other. Here is the whole thing.
The two things you are paying for
The labor is your stylist’s time and skill — sectioning your hair, placing the beads, sewing the rows in so they lie flat and disappear. That is a flat $699 for a first installation here, and it takes two to three hours depending on how much hair goes in.
The hair is a product. You buy it once, it is yours, and it moves with you from appointment to appointment for nine to twelve months. Quality hair starts around $500. Our sister company ModLengths is on site, so you choose and buy it the day of your consultation, and we offer pay plans because we know what it costs.
That split is why “how much are extensions” has no single answer. A salon quoting $699 and a salon quoting $1,200 may be charging you exactly the same thing.

The consultation is $50, and it goes toward your service. You buy your hair at it, and that purchase is the deposit for your installation.
What it costs to keep them
Your own hair grows, so the rows sit further from your scalp over time. Roughly every six weeks a stylist takes them down and reattaches them close to the scalp again.

Your stylist tells you which one you need at the visit. It is not a decision you have to make blind, and it is not a surprise charge.
Skipping them is not a way to save money — it is how people lose hair. As your own hair grows, the row travels away from the scalp, and the weight of the extension ends up pulling on a smaller and smaller amount of hair. Left long enough, that tension is exactly what causes the breakage and hair loss people blame on extensions themselves. The six-week appointment is not an upsell. It is the part that protects your own hair.

Maintenance alternates: roughly every other visit is a full reinstall rather than a move-up, which is why the year works out at four of each. The $699 installation labor is a one-time charge — it comes out of every year after this one.
Why two salons quote such different numbers
- Labor and hair quoted together, or separately. The single biggest source of confusion.
- How much hair you need. More rows, more hair, more cost. Nobody can judge that from a photo, which is why every extension service starts with a consultation.
- The method. A cheaper method can halve a quote. That is the next section.
The cheaper method, and why we do not offer it
Tape-in extensions cost less to put in and less to replace, and you will find them quoted well below anything on this page.
Here is what you are buying. A section of your own hair is sandwiched between two adhesive tabs and glued, with the weight of the extension hanging off that one glued section. That is far more load than a small piece of hair is built to carry, and it is the pattern behind most of the extension-related hair loss we see.
It is quicker and it is easier. We do not consider it up to the standard of the rest of our work, so we do not offer it — the same reason we do not install synthetic hair, which is cheaper again, will not take heat styling, and stops feeling like hair long before human hair does.
Who should not spend this money
- Anyone who cannot come in every six weeks. The schedule is not a suggestion — it is what keeps the tension off your own hair. If that appointment will not fit your life, this is the wrong service, and the hair you paid for will not last.
- Anyone still planning a big color change. Do the lightening first. Extension hair cannot be bleached along with you — it is not growing out of your head, so nothing is conditioning it. If your base is about to change, the match you buy today will be wrong in two months.
- Anyone with curly hair. We do not do curly hair extensions. The beads have to lie flat against the scalp.
- Anyone who wants a look for one weekend. This is a nine-to-twelve-month investment.
What is included in our price
The $699 covers the installation itself. What it also buys is stylists certified by Bellami in five different techniques, trained in person rather than online, at a salon that has done nothing but color and extensions in Baton Rouge since 1996.
