Highlights in Baton Rouge
Highlights lighten fine sections of your hair, from the scalp down, for an all-over blonde. At Eutopia, full highlights start at $150, take three to four hours, and on average clients come back every 8 to 10 weeks.
If you want to be blonde right from the root, highlights are the service. If you would rather stretch the time between appointments, balayage may suit you better — the difference is explained below.

We almost always recommend full highlights. They cost only a little more than a partial, and the result is complete: you can wear your hair up in any style and it still looks finished. With partial highlights, your roots show when you wear your hair up.

How long do highlights take, and how often do you come back?
Plan on three to four hours in the chair. On average, clients come back every 8 to 10 weeks to keep the blonde going as their hair grows.
Lowlights are not darker highlights
That is the most common misunderstanding we hear. Lowlights are added to break up highlights or tone them down, which is why they are usually done together with highlights.
If lowlights were placed the way highlights are — with that many foils — they would be priced as highlights.

What are babylights?
Babylights are tiny highlights. They are very thin slices of hair, lightened exactly the way highlights are, just in thinner sections and with less blonde added. They are usually done together with highlights.
How long does it take to go from dark to blonde?
It depends on your hair when you arrive, so we can only tell you once we see it.
If your hair is dark because it has been colored, going lighter is a color correction — no color, once applied, can lighten another color.
Going darker instead
Going from blonde back to a darker shade is generally a one-day process, and it uses a completely different kind of color — one that only deposits color rather than lightening your hair.
We use Kevin Murphy gloss, which works as a treatment and a color in one service. The result is very shiny hair that feels healthier.

Traditional highlights are best if you want a totally blonde look.
Choose balayage if you want lower-maintenance blonding and you are happy for your hair to be darker at the scalp and get progressively lighter down its length.
